The time for schools and universities to open has come upon us and we are calling for a strike. We urge all students to strike from schools and universities as this will have a huge impact inside Syria and out.
Inside Syria: The strike will provide a stronger feel of the revolution and will encourage others to join, as if schools and universities open normally this will be in benefit of the regime to show everything as calm and normal. Also, movement of students from various areas to universities will block protest movements as many of the university students have been the most active on the ground, and not having a strike will force them into university afraid of being expelled.
Outside Syria: The strike will have a big impact on the world as university students have a high impact on international opinions. A strike like this will seem like a general strike and will lead onto various other strikes across the country.
As you are aware schools have been used as torture centres by the army and police. Children and university students may be arrested during attendance, thus schools mainly seem to be unsafe at the current moment in time. Also the students may be asked questions in order to see their families position regarding the regime as this has occurred before. This will expose family affairs as children are vulnerable and may lead to arrest of family members, as teachers may work as spies.
Many students are missing, some being tortured as you read this and others as young as 12 dead under torture. Children will be attending schools where their friends may have been killed in recent events, or their friend is missing or in prison. The mental state of these children will be affected and it can be seen as morally unacceptable to take our children to schools whilst teenagers and students will not be attending as they have been killed, arrested or missing. Also many young children and students remain trapped inside refugee camps in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan unable to return to study and continue education.
A unified stance will create a new turn of events, it will strengthen the revolution which is fighting for basic human rights. We really urge you, for the sake of a peaceful revolution that has reached a point of no return, to take part in this strike and work on convincing others.

لقد حان وقت افتتاح المدارس والجامعات في سورية ونحن هنا ندعو الى الاضراب. نحن نحث جميع الطلاب على الإضراب من الذهاب للمدارس والجامعات حيث ان هذا سوف يكون له تأثير كبير داخل سوريا وخارجها.
داخل سوريا : إن الإضراب سيعطي شعور و زخم قوي للثورة وسيشجع الآخرين على الانضمام اليها . اما دوام المدارس والجامعات سيكون في مصلحة النظام حيث ان هذا سيعطي الانطباع بان كل شيء هادئ وطبيعي.
على صعيد اخر فان ذهاب الطلاب من مختلف المناطق إلى الجامعات سيخفف من كتلة الحركات الاحتجاجية لان الطلاب الجامعيين يشكلون حركة ناشطة على أرض الواقع ، وعدم وجود اضراب سيجبرهم على الذهاب للجامعات خوفا من الفصل.
خارج سورية : إن الإضراب سيكون له تأثير كبير على العالم حيث ان طلاب الجامعات لديهم تأثير كبير على الرأي العام الدولي.و مثل هذا الإضراب يبدو وكأنه حركة احتجاج معممة ، وسوف يؤدي الى ازدياد الاضرابات في مختلف أنحاء البلاد.
كما هو معلوم فان المدارس و الجامعات استعملت كمراكز لتعذيب المتظاهرين على أيدي الجيش والشرطة. لذلك وجود الاطفال و طلاب الجامعات في الدوام قد يعرضهم للاعتقال لان المدارس و الجامعات اضحت اماكن غير امنة. ايضا فان النظام قد يستغل الطلاب و يسألهم عن ظروف عائلاتهم و موقفهم من الثورة . و هذا بدوره قد يعرض العديد من الاشخاص للاعتقال و قد يدفع النظام المعلمين للعمل كجواسيس على الطلاب و عائلاتهم.
العديد من الطلاب الان في عداد المفقودين ، و العديد تعرض للتعذيب وحتى اطفال لا يتجاوز اعمارهم 12 سنة قتلوا تحت وطأة التعذيب. وسوف يكون الأطفال ملتحقين في نفس المدارس حيث قتل أصدقائهم او فقدوا او ربما ما زالوا يعذبون. هذا بكل تأكيد سوف يؤثر على الحالة النفسية لهؤلاء الأطفال ، ويمكن اعتبار ذلك على أنه أمر غير مقبول من الناحية الاخلاقية .
هذا غير ان العديد من الشباب والطلاب ما زالوا عالقين داخل مخيمات اللاجئين في تركيا ولبنان والأردن و غير قادرين على العودة إلى الدراسة ومواصلة التعليم.
ان موقفا موحدا سيخلق منعطفا جديدا للأحداث ،و سيؤدي لتعزيز الثورة التي تقاتل من أجل حقوق الإنسان الأساسية.
